Shopping in Bangkok

It’s no secret that Thailand is a shopper's paradise.  The enormous range of beautifully hand-crafted items on offer everywhere, whether at fancy metropolitan shopping emporia or small provincial stalls, reflect an array of traditional artisan skills dating back hundreds of years. Many of the stunning handmade objects were originally created for temples and palaces, or for more practical purposes in the home. Nowadays, reproductions of these traditional items have become the coveted keepsakes of visitors and collectors from around the world. For dedicated shoppers on holiday in Thailand, a standard complaint is having too little baggage allowance for all their wonderful purchases!

Thailand is renowned worldwide for its hand-woven silks and cottons, woodcarvings, lacquer ware, ceramics, metal ware, gems and jewellery. Traditionally each of the country's 76 provinces specialized in one particular type of product. For example, the best lacquer ware came from Chiang Mai and the north of Thailand; the southern city of Nakhon Si Thammarat was famous for its nielloware; Sukhothai-Si Satchanalai and central plains were renowned for the classic green-colored celadon pottery.

Recommended itinerary for sightseeing & Shopping in Bangkok

Departing Laem Chabang by air-conditioned vehicle, with 2 hour drives to the city of Bangkok.  Your fist stop, we recommend to take a trip on a long tailed-spee
d boat for a trip on the canals and river tributaries that traverse this bustling city. En route, enjoy shopping with local farmer that selling product during the boats trip.  As you explore the area on the boat, you will pass rustic homes built on stills above the water and markets clustered and the river’s edge.

Don't miss to stop visit the Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) whose 260-foot spire silhouette is often recognized as the symbol of Thailand.  Constructed in the 18th century, the temple is dedicated to Aruna, the Indian God of Dawn, and is built on the site of the palace of King Taksin.  And if the time permit, suggest to visit the Royal Barges garage.   The barges are fabulously ornamented boats used during Thai festivals and processions on the river.  The King’s barge is over 160 feet long and requires a crew of 50 oarsmen.

Nice Buffet Thai lunch in the air-conditioned restaurant can be found en route.  Afterward then move on to downtown for the best shopping in the city with an excellent selection of jewellery, silk and local handicrafts, art and antiques.  Stop can be made at the following respective stores for the best selection choice.  MBK Department store, Paragon Shopping complex, Siam Discovery, Gems Gallery, Tailor shops and etc,.   Late afternoon, return back to Laem Chabang for boarding the ship.
